Frequently asked questions
Who can open an account?
Any parent or legal guardian resident in the UK can open an account for a child under 18 who is also UK resident.
How much can I pay in?
The JISA annual subscription limit is £9,000 per tax year across all JISAs the child holds (Cash and Stocks & Shares combined).
Can my child access the money?
No withdrawals are possible until the child turns 18. At 18 the JISA matures into an adult ISA and the child takes full control.
What if my circumstances change?
You can stop or change contributions at any time. The invested funds remain in the child's name regardless.
Are my investments guaranteed?
No — investments can go down as well as up. Your capital is at risk. Past performance does not guarantee future returns.
